DNO Submission

A DNO (Distribution Network Operator) is a company licensed to distribute electricity in a specific region of a country, typically in the UK. Their main responsibilities include:

• Maintaining and operating the electricity distribution network – this includes overhead lines, underground cables, substations, and transformers.
  • Ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity from the National Grid (or other sources) to homes and businesses.
• Managing connections – this includes new electricity connections for homes, businesses, and renewable energy systems like solar PV.
• Responding to power outages and faults within their network area.

DNOs do not sell electricity; that’s done by energy suppliers. Instead, they ensure the infrastructure is in place to deliver electricity reliably. Examples of DNOs in the UK include UK Power Networks, Western Power Distribution, and Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.

DNO Fit & Inform - Common Submission Errors

When submitting the DNO Fit & Inform form, you may encounter validation errors related to the Type Test Reference or Power Factor. Below is a guide to help you understand what these errors mean and how to resolve them:

Type Test Reference Errors

These errors relate to the inverter’s Type Test Reference, which is checked against the ENA (Energy Networks Association) database:

• Device Not Found
  The Type Test Reference you entered could not be found in the ENA system. This usually means the reference number is incorrect or has not been registered.
• Superseded
  The reference you entered has been replaced with a newer version. You should check the ENA database for the latest approved reference number.
• Not Compliant
  The Type Test Reference is no longer compliant for installation. This may be due to changes in standards or regulatory approvals.

Power Factor Error

• Power Factor Not Set
  This means the product does not have a power factor configuration in the database. You may need to contact the product manufacturer or your installer to confirm the correct settings.
